How to Fix the Annoying File Explorer Glitch in Windows 11
If your business has upgraded to Windows 11 version 24H2, you may have encountered an irritating bug in File Explorer – the tool we all rely on for navigating files and folders.
Here’s what’s happening and how you can work around it while waiting for Microsoft’s fix.
The Problem: A Misbehaving “See More” Menu
File Explorer includes a “See more” menu, represented by three little dots. Typically, this menu opens just below your mouse cursor, providing handy options like “Select All” or “View Properties.”
But with the latest update, the menu isn’t behaving as it should. Instead:
It flies up to the top of the screen, often disappearing out of view.
In full-screen mode, some menu options may be completely inaccessible.
Not ideal when you’re trying to work efficiently!
The Workaround: Use Windowed Mode
Fortunately, there’s an easy way to sidestep this issue:
Switch to Windowed Mode
Click the square icon in the top-right corner of the File Explorer window (next to the “X” used to close it).
Resize the Window
Adjust the File Explorer window size so it shares the screen with other applications. This will allow the “See more” menu to appear, even if it’s still not behaving perfectly.
While not a perfect solution, this tweak makes the menu usable again.
What’s Next?
The good news is that Microsoft is aware of the glitch and is working on a fix. A patch should resolve this annoyance in a future update.
Why These Glitches Matter
Even small bugs like this can disrupt your team’s productivity and add unnecessary frustration to your workday. Staying informed and implementing quick fixes ensures you keep things running smoothly.
